CLASS III - VII

1. Eligibility

Eligibility for admission to class III is primarily dependent on the age of the child, who should be seven years old.

2. Procedure

(a) A guardian, who wishes to admit his ward, can either

Register Online by visiting the school website www.anthonyskurseong.org /select online registration for new admission under the main menu Admission Or

Download & fill up the admission registration form available in the www.anthonyskurseong.org and download and fillup, submit the same along with payment of requisite charges Or, Obtain all necessary papers from the School Office by paying the requisite charges (for Class III to VII). A receipt for the amount paid should be obtained and retained. It must be produced whenever required. The name of the child should then be registered by submitting the Registration Form, duly filled in and complete in all respects, to the School Office as soon as possible.

(b) The School Office will inform the guardian of the date and time on which the verification of documents will take place at the time the Registration Form submission.

(c) Both the parents of the child should be present at the verification of documents. If for any reason one parent is unable to attend, the School Office should be informed in writing of the fact and the reason thereof well in advance.

THE ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Registration:
  • Registration is open for Class III to VII and XI.
  • The completed Application Form may be deposited with the Admissions Office with Resistration fees.
  • This fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee admission.
  • Children who are registered will appear for a written assessment in Jan/Feb each year. Please check website for announcement of dates or may confirm from the admission office.
Assessment:
  • The written assessment is a general one covering English, Mathematics, Science and Hindi/Nepali/Bengali.
  • Questions will be based on the syllabus of the class that the child is currently in (for example, a child applying for admission to Class VI will be assessed on the syllabus of Class V). The syllabus for the Entrance assessment will be provided at the time of submission of Registration Form.
  • After the written assessment, there will be an interaction of the parents and child with the Principal and the Admissions Committee.
Documents:

The following documents (original and photocopy) must be submitted at the time of evaluation:

  • Registration Card (which will be issued to you once you register with the School).
  • Birth Certificate, attested.
  • Academic reports and certificates for the last three years.
  • Individual passport size photographs (3) of the pupil and the parents.
  • For foreign students passport and other relevant documents

ADMISSION RULES

  1. There will be no admission to Classes IX, X & XII.
  2. Admissions to Class III to VII will be granted in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the appropriate authorities.
  3. The decision of the Principal of the School regarding admissions to all other classes will be final and binding on all applicants for admission and their parents/guardians.
  4. Names of candidate selected for admission will generally be posted on the School Notice Board and the school website.
  5. Admission to any class from Class III to VIII does not guarantee automatic admission to Class XI. A candidate cannot demand to be admitted to Class XI solely on the ground that he has passed the ICSE Examination from this School.
  6. Once admission is granted to any class, no fee, excepting the Caution Money Deposit and Laboratory Deposit (Class XI), will be refunded even if the student is withdrawn from the School without having attended a single class.

Subjects (Compulsory & Electives)

In addition to English (compulsory subject), and Hindi/Bengali/Nepali, all pupils of this School will have to take up four elective subjects. This School offers the following as elective subjects, provided at least twenty (20) pupils opt for a particular subject:

Science-oriented:

Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/Computer Science/Economics

Commerce-oriented:

Accountancy, Commerce, Business Studies/Mathematics, Economics/Computer Science

Humanities Oriented:

History, Sociology, Geography/Economics, Political Science, Environmental Science

B. Eligibility

a) Science: In the Selection Test (Class X) or last examination of the school from which the applicant is due to appear for the secondary or equivalent Public Examination, he must have obtained at least:

75% in the aggregate;

80% in English; 85% in Mathematics and the Science subjects (combined).

b) Commerce: In the Selection Test (Class X) or last examination of the school from which the applicant is due to appear for the secondary or equivalent Public Examination, he must have obtained at least:

70% in the aggregate;

80% in English; 80% in Mathematics.

c) Humanities: In the Selection Test (Class X) or last examination of the school from which the applicant is due to appear for the secondary or equivalent Public Examination, he must have obtained at least:

70% in the aggregate;

80% in English;

C. Procedure

a) In order to apply for the admission of his ward to Class XI, a guardian should obtain all necessary papers, including the Registration Form, from the School Office by paying the requisite charges. A receipt for the amount paid should be obtained and retained till the Admission Test and interview are over. Even after making the Prospectus and other papers available to a guardian, the School reserves the right not to register the name of an applicant for admission to Class XI. Registration, however, only ensures a call for an Admission Test and does not guarantee admission.

b) The Registration Form, duly filled in, together with all necessary documents should be submitted to the School Office as soon as possible.

c) An applicant, who has sat for the Admission Test and been selected for admission, will be required to appear for an interview, the date of which will be mentioned against his name in a list to be posted on the School Notice Board.

d) Both the parents of the pupil should be present at the interview. If for any reason one parent is unable to attend the interview, the School Office should be informed in writing of the fact and the reason thereof well in advance.

e) A call for an interview does not guarantee admission.

D. Children who are registered will appear for a written assessment in Jan/Feb each year. Please check the School website for announcement of dates or confirm the information from the School Office.

E. Admission: Post-Publication of Secondary Examination Results

a) After the results of the secondary examinations conducted by Boards other than the CISCE are published, and depending on the availability of seats, applications for admission to Class XI (Science & Commerce) may be considered, strictly on the basis of merit.

b) Eligibility:

Science: In the Final Examination, the applicant must have obtained at least

95% in the aggregate,

90% in English,

90% in Mathematics, and

90% in Science.

Commerce: In the Final Examination, the applicant must have obtained at least 90% in the aggregate and in English. If the candidate wishes to take up Mathematics as an elective subject, he must have obtained 85% in Mathematics in the Final Examination.

Humanities: In the Final Examination, the applicant must have obtained at least 90% in the aggregate and in English.

c) Humanities: In the Selection Test (Class X) or last examination of the school from which the applicant is due to appear for the secondary or equivalent Public Examination, he must have obtained at least:

70% in the aggregate;

80% in English;

F. Admission Rules for Ex- Anthonians

Admission Rules for class XI- Students who have passed I.C.S.E from St. Anthony’s School, Kurseong with the qualifying marks required- are to be charged under the following criteria:

G. Cancellation of Admission to Class XI

a. The provisional admission of a candidate will stand automatically cancelled if he/she fails to pass the secondary examination or equivalent Public Examination he/she will appear/has appeared for.

b. A candidate, who has passed a secondary or equivalent Public Examination conducted by a recognized board of education other than the CISCE, must produce a Migration Certificate. His/Her admission will be subject to the approval of the CISCE

c. The School reserves the right to cancel the admission of a candidate if there is a report of serious misconduct or breach of discipline against him/her, or if he/she fails to produce an attested copy of a Character Certificate from the Head of the school he/she last attended. The decision of the Academic Council of the School in all such cases will be final and binding on the candidate and his/her guardian/s.
