Grand Opening of the ISC Section
St. Anthony’s School, Giddapahar, Kurseong got affiliation in the year 1997 to the CISCE Board. The school got a Co-ed affiliation
and was initially started with boys’ and girls’ but the then Principal was not comfortable with the co-educational system of
education and after three years the school turned into a boys’ school. But immense pressure from the parents resulted in opening
a completely new girls’ wing under the able guidance of Mrs B. Tewari in the year 2000. The Principal, Mr. C. Tewari,
an educationist, thought to upgrade the school to a Higher Secondary level and the milestone was achieved on May 2014 when
the Council awarded the permission to open the class XI. The achievement was applauded in the presence of invitees namely
Col T. Parnell, the chief guest, Mr Wangdi Tshering Bhutia, guest of honour, Director Mr C.S. Tewari, Directress’
Mrs Kanta Tewari and distinguished guests as well as Teachers & Students.
Inter-School Photography Competition
Raunaq Dey of Class X B while passing through the corridor saw a poster of World Photograpphy Day which was supposed to be
held on 19th August 2015. After receiving prior permission from the Principal Sir, he along with Mr. Amar Ghaley went to Kurseong
town on a Sunday and took some snap shots with his semi SLR camera of which the shot of a steam engine emitting steam in grey
scale background was praise worthy. However the photos were submitted and this particular photo was nominated for the Monochrome
and Natural Group. Finally on 19th August 2015 the shot of the steam engine emitting steam in grey scale background was second
in the monochrome group and was credited with the name ‘pride of Darjeeling’. This was the first ever photographic prize for
St. Anthony’s School, Kurseong.
Interact Club 2015
The year 2015 proved to be a constructive year for the members of the Interact Club of St. Anthony’s. The Interactors feel very proud
to have been the most active club of Kurseong. Being the members of the Interact Club has helped them to develop the skills in public
speaking and foster leadership qualities. Various projects have been taken up in and around the school but the visit to Gangtok
for “Samyong” meaning “bringing people together” was something which every Interactor will cherish for a long time.
